Yesterday I received an email pretending to be from Microsoft. The “From” address was “Microsoft Support [email@example.com]” and it claimed that all Windows installations had to be linked to a current email address and my records were out of date!
Needless to say, Microsoft do not send out emails like that. If you think of it logically, if my email needed to be registered with Microsoft they wouldn’t have had the address to send me the email!
There was a link on the email to “Verify Now”. Having checked where that link was pointing, it was a web forgery address “hotremaxproperty.com”. If you get a similar email, delete it straight away and don’t follow the link. To help you recognise the email, there is a screen grab of it below:
