Grandchildren are sometimes worse than computer viruses! A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. A customer today had lost WiFi connection to their netbook … when they mentioned a grandson I soon guessed the cause of the problem and put it right.
The same customer also mentioned about a phone call from someone claiming to be from Windows who said that it had been detected that their computer was infected. Thank goodness they didn’t go along with it. Had they done so, they would have given their credit card details to criminals, paid them £100 and given them remote access to their computer to do whatever they wanted. Probably seal their identity and leave behind a trojan that would have continued to transmit anything entered on the machine. This sort of scam is becoming all too common. And it’s happening all around the world, not just in the UK. If you want to read more look at this link from a paper in Australia.
