The free version of AVG, the Antivirus and Antispyware program from Grisoft has now been released as Version 9. The previous version was 8.5. Tos see the news about the program click here If you use AVG you can download the new version from Grisoft Don’t forget that if you feel that you need a more comprehensive protection including firewall and antispam you can download and install the full version. The Grisoft website will advise you of the cost.

The internet slowed down after Michael Jackson’s death as so many people were trying to find information about his untimely passing. Google in particular was receiving so many searches that it thought that it was under attack! For more info see this BBC news link

Microsoft have launched the beta version of its new search engine Bing. In many ways it seems similar to Google with web, image, video,shopping, news and maps search facilities. At the moment it does not provide the additional software downloads of Google. It is obviously wanting to compete with the likes of Google and Yahoo .... see news link
