I sometimes wonder whether ISP change people’s passwords for the sheer hell of it. One client today called me as she could not get on line. The router had lost connection a few days previously. It turned out that the broadband connection password had changed. At least with Talktalk you can phone up, go through the multiple layers of options and eventually get a robot voice that will tell you the username and password. You actually don’t have to struggle with accents encountered in a foreign call centre!
And guess what, another case of a Fake Security program … this one was quite easy to remove. Again, McAfee was installed although to be fair, it wasn’t activated so it would be more reasonable to say that there was no installed security. No wonder something got in!
