Had a puzzling job yesterday. The customer had just got a new wireless router from Talktalk replacing the old Netgear one that had seemed to become unstable. All three computers ran Windows XP. The desktop that was connected via ethernet was fine and the netbook connected by WiFi was fine. The laptop however crashed each time the router was switched on. If the router was not on, then the laptop was OK.
I eventually resolved the problem by switching off the N protocol of the WiFi. B and G WiFi protocols were fine but the N simply crashed the laptop. I don’t know why, especially when the XP netbook on WiFi was fine with N running.
