Still need to buy any Christmas presents? Well, how about an All-in-one printer? But if you do think of such a purchase, think also of the cost of running the machine.
I’ve heard for a while now that Kodak printers were the cheapest to run. Well, the latest issue (Feb 2012) of PC Pro magazine has run a Lab Test on a big range of All-in-ones and yes, the Kodak Hero 5.1 was the cheapest to run at 1.3p per mono A4 and 4.2p for colour A4. This was closely followed by the HP Photosmart 5510 at 2.2p and 6.6p respectively.
The two most expensive to run were the Lexmark Genesis S815 at 3.3p and 9.3p with the Brother DCP-J925DW at 2.8p and 8.1p.
When you compare the cost of printing a 6 x 4 photo, the difference is enormous. The Kodak Hero only costs 9.2p while the Brother DCP-J125 costs 29.2p.
You also need to take into account the initial purchase cost and the quality of printing for which I would advise that you buy a copy of PC Pro.
